Variance Commentary
On The Books Data
It is a best practice to periodically review the On The Books Mapping to ensure all New Codes have been mapped accurately. This data feeds into the Actuals/Definites comparison dataset that is frequently used in Reporting and within the Forecast and Budget screens. The data being imported can be viewed under the Import OTB PMS and Import OTB Sales Screens and the Mapping is controlled under the Map Group/ Transient OTB.
Revenue Management System Feeds
Yield Management or RMS (Revenue Management System) Imports - ProfitSword has developed the ability to import from various revenue management systems. With these interfaces users can have their RMS data import and update their Primary Forecast or import the data into a selected dataset and use this as a comparison dataset in Reports and the Forecast and Budget screens.
There is some set-up required to ensure this data imports correctly.
Forecast & Budget
Here is a list of items used when Forecasting and Budgeting:
- Review Top Line Revenue
- Using the Copy Dataset Feature - This allows users to copy data from the selected Comparison 1 Dataset into the Main Dataset
- Using the Spread Feature - This allows the users to spread an account under the Days tab.
Comparison Datasets - ProfitSword has various Comparison Datasets that will assist in analyzing data during the Budgeting and Forecasting process as well as reviewing various Reports.
