You can use the filters in ProfitAbility to filter and display specific information based on the dashboard you are viewing. Examples would be time/date periods, property or site lists, and accounts or departments. When operating the system, it is important to know how to use the filters and how they affect the dashboard.
Finding Filters in a ProfitAbility Dashboard
On the right-hand side of the dashboard, halfway down the screen, there is a small arrow pointing inward. Once you click on this icon, the filters for the dashboard will display.

Common Filters
The most common filters for ProfitAbility will be property and date filters, but other dashboards or custom dashboards may display more filters
- Please note that some reports in Profitword use day tables, while others use full periods. If you select a timeframe that doesn't align with the dashboard's requirements, the information may differ from the report you compare it to in ProfitSword or display as #N/A.
- For example, the Day/MTD flash report uses day tables. If you select a full period, this report will not be effective. Conversely, if you select a specific day or date range within a period for a full-period report (such as Revenue Management or Expense Metrics), these reports will not display effectively.
Note: If you have any questions about specific report date filters, please open a support ticket and assign it to the ProfitAbility group.
- Property Name: In your instance, you will see the filter named Property Name instead of Property Code. This filter lists your properties as displayed within ProfitSword.
- Most Standard dashboards are designed to display data for one property at a time. If you select more than one property, the metrics will be averaged.
- Site List Name: This filter works similarly to Property Name, filtering the dashboard to include information only from the properties in the specified site list.
- The dashboard will average the data from the properties in the site list, similar to how it averages data for individual properties.
- If both Site List and Property Name filters are present on the same dashboard, it is best practice to toggle off the one not in use. When using the Site List filter, ensure all properties are selected in the Property Name filter and then toggle it off to avoid excluding any properties.
- Account Name: This filter lists specific GL accounts by name. You might see this filter in dashboards like the Labor dashboard, where you can select a specific account (e.g., Room Attendant or Front Desk Agent).
- Dataset: Some dashboards allow you to filter specific datasets, such as Primary Forecasts or Budgets.
- This filter is currently used only in custom dashboards. Most standard dashboards have comparison datasets. If you want to change the comparison in any widget or dashboard, please open a support ticket.
- If you need a dataset added to ProfitAbility that you don't already see, please open a support ticket, and we will work with you to add it.
Note: Last Year comparisons are not a dataset; they are calculations based on the Date/Period filter selection.
